Hi beautiful friends!
I had an awesome weekend wine tasting with a friend in Napa, so I thought I’d share a mini review of the places we went!
And I’m just diving right in!
We started atMumm Napa和共享二他们的航班。七个起泡葡萄酒是不是一个糟糕的方式开始一个周六...
I don’t know what to say about a flight of sparkling wine… what’s not to like?
From there, we visitedChateau Montelena. This is the winery that made the chardonnay that won the Judgment of Paris (if you haven’t seen Bottle Shock, I highly recommend it.) I had actually never been here before! I thought my mom and I had visited, but I remembered that what actually happened is she and I couldn’t remember the name of the winery when we tried to visit, and it was pre-smartphones. Sooo we definitely didn’t make it.
Anyhow. We had a great tasting at this beautiful winery, no trouble getting in without a reservation (which we found super surprising), and wound up buying their chardonnay and totally getting the hype.
After a little break, we wound our way down toHeitz, where I’ve been before and really loved it. They have a stellar port. And tastings are actually free! (There are FOUR wineries in Napa that offer free tastings, so that’s amazing.)
And then we took a break to check into our hotel before heading off to theNapa Valley Distilleryfor a tour and tasting. We were totally blown away. We learned SO MUCH, had an absolute blast, tasted the best gin ever. (Actually, they’re not allowed to call it a gin. But it was basically gin.) Suuuuch an adorable place with stellar decor (seriously, this photo does not even remotely do it justice. The lighting was odd in a way that was fantastic in person but doesn’t photograph well.
Immediately after we left the distillery, we kind of regretted not buying more booze. It was just so good! So we were thrilled and surprised when we unintentionally wound up at their tasting room in theOxbow Public Market关于15 minutes later… So did our tour guide from the actual distillery. Hahah!
It was so tough to pick a restaurant for dinner because there are so many to choose from. And I know the area slightly well, but not well enough to narrow down restaurants. I can’t even remember how we decided onRistorante Allegria, but it was BEAUTIFUL. The food was fantastic. Service was even better and shockingly fast. And they served our bread with the most unusual oil-and-onion concoction that I imagine a lot of people don’t love (we smelled like onions the rest of the night) but we were thrilled.
Sunday we had breakfast atGillwoods Cafein St. Helena and it was incredible! Also shockingly fast service.
And immediately followed a filling breakfast with some food samples atV. Sattui! No regrets there… (And I found emmentaler, the traditional spaetzle cheese! So you know I’m going to make spaetzle again this week.)
Then we headed to选萃which was amazing. The wine was great, but the ambience and our server were even better. I have no idea how long we sat there because it was just the perfect relaxed tasting.
While we were at Delectus, I got a text from my parents saying they were at Heitz which is only a couple wineries down. So we met up with them to head to our last tasting atPeju.
Pejuwas a blast! The wine was fantastic, the pours were generous , our server was a riot.
After a serious snack session in the parking lot so we could drive again, we headed back home.
And that’s it! Happy Monday night, loves
