I hope you’re notterriblyconfused by the title of this post as to what I’m actually making.
I made miso soup. In green tea. A savory “fennel spice” green tea.
I know, right?
I was lucky enough to get a few samples of this tea from Numi. They have just released a new line of organic savory teas, including Fennel Spice, Beet Cabbage, Broccoli Cilantro, Carrot Curry, Spinach Chive, and Tomato Mint.
They may sound a bit weird, but I did really enjoy the fennel spice samples I received. I wouldn’t say it replaced my normal cup of green tea at work because it was so different from what I expected. But if you think of it as sipping some delicious broth or a tummy-filler if you’re hungry long before lunch, then it’s incredibly satisfying.
Lately, I’ve been trying to get back into summer shape, and one of my go-to snacks to prevent excessive munching between meals is miso soup. Well, I just made that in tea. SO GOOD.
It is the perfect low-cal filling and really delicious snack. Plus it’s super portable – just bring a spoonful of miso paste to work in a mason jar, add hot water and a tea bag, and you’re good to go!
You can also try using this tea as a replacement anywhere you’d use veggie broth – lots of flavor and an extra antioxidant punch! My runner-up favorite was to cook rice in it. Ummm delish.
